Pataudi’s hat-trick guides Army to 7-3 win

LAHORE: Major General Isfandyar Ali Khan Pataudi struck a hat-trick to guide Army to a 7-3 victory over Guard Group/Newage in the 12-goal Clarks Pakistan Polo Cup 2015 match played at the Lahore Polo Club yesterday.

The first chukker of the match saw a goal from Pataudi, who is also the chairman of the Pakistan Polo Association.

Navid Shaikh opened the second chukker for Guard Group/Newage as he hit a field goal to level the score. Ahmad Bilal Riaz and foreign player Tomas Lorente then contributed with a goal each to help Army take a 3-1 lead before the end of the second chukker.

The third chukker witnessed two back-to-back goals from Matias Vial Perez and Taimur Ali Malik to help Guard Group/Newage level the score at 3-3. However, Army restored their lead through Maj Haseeb Minhas’s goal as the third chukker ended at 4-3.

The fourth and last chukker of the match was fully dominated by Amry as they struck three back-to-back goals. Isfandyar hit a brace while Riaz struck his second goal to end the game at 7-3.
