According to DG Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Asim Bajwa, 28 brigadiers, including seven doctors of Army Medical Corps were promoted against existing vacancies/retirements.

The promotion board’s meeting was presided by army chief General Raheel Sharif. The promoted officers will be posted to their positions in the next few days.

@wb: Don't worry about the politics of Pakistan. Hindus don't have any military traditions. They were ruled by Muslims for 1400 years That is why you don't see anything in hindu papers.
I have never ever come across any news article in India (let alone national headlines) of promotions from brigs to majors.
This says so much about the politics of Pakistan

Muslims who joined Pakistan Army in 1947 are probably no longer living now well Atleast most of them. So in accordance with your logic there should be no muslims left in Pakistan Army as well. What about muslims second largest community in India havnt you found any loyal person in all 180 million of those to head prestigious Indian Army

@ Kam The Muslim divisions of Indian Army were transferred to Pakistan at the time of partition. Most Muslim officers and civil servants also decided to make their career in Pakistan. Therefore Indian army is underrepresented in Muslims. However, there are plenty of Sikhs, Christians, Parsis and Jews in the Indian Army. During the 1971 war, the team of Gen. Jagjit Arora(Sikh) led 9th Division, General Joseph(Jew) was GOC eastern command while Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw(Parsi) who was Army Chief won the war. Sikhs are 2 % of Indian population while they are 13 % of the military.

Always appoint corps commanders based on personal loyalties. This policy pays off in spades like it did for Zia and Musharraf.
