"We are not against love, but if a couple is in love then they must get married. In case the couples claim that they need time to think about marriage, we will tell them that if they are not certain, they should not belittle love by openly going around together. We will also inform their parents," Mahasabha national president Chandra Prakash Kaushik said, while speaking to the Times of India.
Kaushik said Hindu couples will have to get married while inter-faith partners will have to sit through a purification ritual.
"All residents of India are Hindus. Hence, the weddings [of couples caught on Valentine's Day] will be preceded by shuddhikaran (purification)," the Mahasabha representative from Agra said.
Further, the Hindu Mahasabha has reportedly established teams in west Uttar Pradesh and even the capital to identify ‘guilty’ couples.
"India is a country where all 365 days are days for love, why then must couples observe only February 14 as Valentine's Day?" he questioned.

All residents of India are Hindus? Talk about delusion!
And who said only lovers can be valentines. a ma and son too can be valentine . its a day to celebrate love . It need not be between a boy and a girl. Need not be mere romance Can be affection related too ( like pa and dau )...
@huh Hmm.. I wonder what secularism has anything to do with it. Do you have Oxford dictionary at home? If not, no problem, check google for definition and then try to see how this news is remotely related to secularism. By the way, Valentine's day is not a religious affair. @Pakistani We'll fight with tooth and nail for personal freedom of the couples to go out and enjoy it the way they want. Question is, do people in Pakistan celebrate and like Valentine's day or not, or you are just cussing Indians just for the sake of it.
@Pakistani: why would we justify it? We celebrate Valentine day, Christmas etc with vigour every year. Their empty talks don't affect us nor we lisen to them. Did we boycott pk movie on their call? No. In India it became highest earning movie in history with 600crore. Our constitution protects us from their nonsense speech/actions. 2. See the state mentioned in article, we have 30 states 7union territories. In can work in that state village, but not on rest. @Huh?: yes we are. But they have freedom of speech for everyone. The moment they cross it and encroach others life with their actions, they serve jail term.
And I thought India was a secular country.
Okay, now Indians will fight with tooth and nail to justify this.
They say this nonsense every year on Valentine's day. But themselves land in jail for harassing Valentine celebrating lovers. Read the constitution-hindu Mahasabha.
Instead of criticizing Pakistan, Indians should take steps to address the extremism which is gaining ground in their country.
