Democracy in Pakistan: Book on democracy launched

A book highlighting democracy’s role in the country’s history was launched at PC Hotel on Tuesday.


“Democracy in Pakistan: from rhetoric to reality” has been authored by Raja Qaisar Ahmad, a lecturer at the department of defence and diplomatic studies, Fatima Jinnah Women University


The event was attended by a high number of students and professors of International Relations as well as civil society members.


While elaborating on his book, Ahmad said the central thesis of his study is that the solution to bad democracy is more democracy. Countries are never fit or unfit for democracy, they are made fit though democracy, he explained.


The era in focus is from 2008-2013, but the book presents a detailed account of the overall history of political transition, explained the author.
