KARACHI: Couture house Ammara Khan recently showcased a limited-edition luxury pret line, which was inspired by the brand’s ‘The Winter Palace: A Celebration of the Russian Tsarina’, along with a bridal collection. According to a press release, the event took place on January 27 and January 28 at Ensemble.

Ammara’s capsule collection featured the use of silver and gold thread, and embellishments including crystals, semi-precious stones and pearls. Boasting a diverse colour palette, with pastels, taupe, blue, coral and ivory, the apparel featured elegant materials such as lace, net, organza and silk. The bridal collection comprised four ensembles, which drew inspiration from the opulent lifestyle of Russian royalty.

The designer marked her fashion debut with her ‘The Winter Palace’ collection at last year’s PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week. Her structure was sound and, while there were some beautiful elements in the formals, the bridals were a little over-the-top and could do without some of the add-ons. Ammara founded her brand in 2002 and attempts to juxtapose the classic with the contemporary in her collections. She currently stocks at her studio in Lahore, and Ensemble in both Karachi and Dubai.
