KARACHI: Two condemned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi militants were hanged at the Karachi Central Jail Tuesday morning afteran anti-terrorism court (ATC) decided to uphold its decision to execute them.

Both convicts - Attaullah Arif Qasim and Muhammed Azim Arif Sharif were responsible for the murder of Dr Ali Raza in Karachi's Soldier Bazaar area in 2001.

They were sentenced to death in 2004 but remained in prison due to the six year moratorium on capital punishment which was lifted at the end of last year.

"They were hanged at 6:30 this morning and their bodies have been handed to their relatives," a prison official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

During the time of the executions, security in and around the prison was kept high.

Following the hanging, bodies of the two men were handed over to their respective families.

@Timorlane:

Sir I completely agree with you. Unfortunately our media is extreme example of double standards. I don't understand who cursed Pakistan with all this lot.
