The Jade couture dress on the Dedh Ishqiya star captured our hearts instantly.

Bollywood’s answer to the Oscars, the Filmfare Awards, saw a bevy of beauties on Saturday evening in Mumbai. The award ceremony dished out a perfect setting for Bollywood’s gliterrati to dress to impress.

From traditional wear to modish gowns, the red carpet brimmed with diverse looks. But while some A-listers impressed us with their fashion statements, some donned ensembles that were sure-fire downers.

Madhuri Dixit

It’s no surprise that the queen of Bollywood knows how to make a million hearts go dhak dhak with her million-dollar smile. The Jade couture dress on the Dedh Ishqiya star captured our hearts instantly. The strapless full-skirted, navy-blue gown featured a bustier top and an embossed striped design. Discreet jewellery, wavy hair, a blue leather clutch and a scarlet lip accentuated Madhuri’s effortless charm.

Sonam Kapoor

The Dolly Ki Doli actor stunned in a fusion outfit by Anamika Khanna. The crème ensemble featured a layered, pleated high-waisted lehenga and an embroidered choli. Making her ornate presence felt with time-honoured Sunita Kapoor jewels, the star finished her regal look with nude make-up and cross-braids. Although we found her look to be overdone for the occasion, we can’t deny that it was a spectacle.

Deepika Padukone

The Happy New Year star stunned in a sleeveless, ivory ruffle gown at the bash. The brocaded pattern of the Ashi Studio number showed off the actor’s toned legs. She sported a dress with a long trail, which made her a fashion trailblazer at the event. With her hair pulled back in a neat bun, Deepika donned pearl earrings and a chunky diamond ring. Deep cherry lips that matched her mani rounded up the her look for the evening.

Kalki Koechlin

The jet Nikhil Thampi saree with a twist was perfect for the actor as it was in-sync with her contemporary-girl image. The Amrapali jewels and Outhouse belt were breathtaking and added to her retro ensemble. Going for natural luminous make-up, Kalki was one of the best dressed at the ceremony, but we still think she could have done without the gold-sequinned pants.
