Terror threats: MQM asks Sindh govt to declare state of emergency in province

MQM's deputy parliamentary leader says Sindh govt should seek help of Army, conduct operations against terrorists

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Deputy Parliamentary Leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan on Monday said the Sindh government should declare a state of emergency in the province immediately in order to ensure that peace and stability is maintained in the region, Express News reported.

Addressing the media outside the Sindh Assembly, Hassan said the government should seek help of the Army and conduct operations against terrorists in the province.

“Measures should be also taken against miscreants assisting terrorists,” the MQM leader added.

Hassan also criticised the government for failing to take action in ending the scourge of terrorism when MQM’s chief Altaf Hussain had informed them of the rising Talibanisation in Pakistan.

Just three days ago, over 60 people were killed and at least 50 others injured in an explosion at an Imambargah in the city of Shikarpur in Sindh, which was again suspected to be an act of terror.
