“Instead of diverting all the benefit of oil price plunge towards the government coffers, we gave relief to the people,” PM Nawaz Sharif said in a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Raiwand.
They discussed the ongoing political situation of the country, particularly the National Action Plan, special courts, Zarb-e-Azb and the next governor of Punjab.
They noted that the substantial cut in fuel prices should translate into a visible decline in the prices of essential commodities.
PM Nawaz said that the provincial governments should take stern measures to bring down prices of essentials in step with fuel prices. In this regard, the authorities concerned should be alerted to perform their duties and monitor the market prices, PM said.
They took up the issue of new governor of Punjab under discussion whereas the premier was also briefed about the names of candidates who have applied for the seats in Senate. It was decided that 11 candidates will be pitched to contest Senate seats in Punjab.
PM Nawaz appreciated the efforts of Punjab CM regarding the counter terrorism force establishment and stated that the nation, army and government are united in the war against terror.

The subsidy on fuel & electricity should also be temporarily STOPPED due to falling price & reducing the petrol price & the amount of subsidy etc; be diverted to security, health, education & other social sectors....this god given chance should be utilized to its fullest as this trend is short lived....
