A four-year-old boy was released by his captors who were holding him for a Rs20 million ransom.
Sohail, son of Rehmatullah, a resident of Dalazak Road in Paharipura, was kidnapped on December 16, 2014.
While talking to The Express Tribune, a police official said that the kidnappers were initially demanding Rs20 million in ransom from the father, but ultimately set the boy free due to mounting pressure and increased raids by the police.
“He has been reunited with his parents,” he said.
Similarly, a counterterrorism department (CTD) team raided a house on Dalazak Road and recovered two men—Asim Shahzad, a resident of Lahore, and Nusrat Ali—who had been abducted for a Rs8 million ransom.
They also arrested a suspected kidnapper Nisar Muhammad. Muhammad is a native of Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency and currently resides in Urmar in the city.
He was shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
The raid was conducted on a tip-off that two kidnapped people were kept chained in a house on Dalazak Road.
The CTD team then raided the premises and successfully rescued both men.
