Tenants’ registration: FIRs lodged against 10 hotel owners, landlords

Action is being taken in accordance with the law against hotel owners not keeping records of their guests.

Police have registered cases against landlords of 10 hotels and houses for not providing record of their tenants to the police.


Punjab Information of Temporary Residence Ordinance 2015 has bound hotel owners, landlords and property dealers to provide information about their customers and tenants to the relevant police station. Hotels have been directed to provide information to police within three hours of occupation whereas landlords are required to register their tenants with the police within 24 hours of possession of the property.


Rawalpindi police had requested all hotels and property owners to comply with the law and have launched a drive against the violators.

According to a police spokesman, City police registered FIRs against hotel owners Faraz Abbasi and Muhammad Ghazanfar while Pirwadhai police registered cases against Abbas, Tufail, Anjum, Aftab Khan, Sarfraz, Ashfaq, Naseem Khan and Jamsheed Akhtar for not providing information to the police.

Similarly, Sadiqabad police registered FIR against Usman Waheed who did not submit details of his tenants to the police.

The spokesperson said that action is being taken in accordance with the law against hotel owners not keeping records of their guests.
