Mob tortures two suspected robbers to death in Karachi

Korangi SSP denies the two men were tortured, while Jinnah Hospital confirms that they were

KARACHI: Two suspected street robbers were killed by a mob in Korangi area of Karachi late on Saturday night. Separately, four suspected militants were killed in an encounter with the Crime Investigation Department late on Saturday night.

The two suspected robbers and their two accomplices were allegedly caught 'red-handed' by residents of Korangi No.4 as they were reportedly looting some citizens.

Witnesses said that the suspected robbers riding on motorcylces had intercepted a man. The man, despite stopping his car, managed to hit one of the motorcycles, causing two robbers to fall off.

Locals rushed to the spot and apprehended the two robbers as their accomplices escaped.

The residents beat up the two would-be criminals. Eyewitnesses added that the mob poured petrol on one of them and attempted to set him ablaze. Weapons were also recovered from the possession of the two robbers.

Sources at Jinnah Hospital confirmed that the men were tortured to death. However, Korangi SSP Junaid Shaikh claimed that the two men had not been tortured.

Four militants killed in CID raid

At least four suspected militants were killed when the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of police conducted a raid in MPR Colony, Orangi Town.

According to details, the men allegedly belonged to the Khan Zaman group of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

The police said they had raided a suspected militant hideout on Saturday night and an encounter took place with the suspected militants. In the ensuing exchange of fire, the four men were killed.

The added that they had recovered heavy explosives and weapons from the possession of the suspects.
