HBL stun PIA in football league
Goal-fest in Karachi as KPT rout Athletico.
KARACHI:
Habib Bank Limited (HBL) stunned Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) 2-1 in the Pakistan Premier League while Karachi Port Trust (KPT) defeated PMC Athletico 4-2.
Khayal Muhammad scored the first goal against PIA in the 27th minute while Muhammad Ibrahim doubled the lead five minutes later as HBL led 2-0 at the interval. PIA managed a consolation through Shakir Lashari’s goal in the 66th minute.
HBL stay bottom of the league with 12 points while PIA sit on the fifth position with 37 points.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Waseem scored twice against Athletico in the seventh and 50th minute of the match as Naveed Ahmed and Shahid Saleem assured the victory in the 25th and 90th minutes. Athletico’s Naveed Mumtaz and Muhammad Luqman scored in the 44th and 55th minutes.
KPT move to fourth with 37 points after 20 matches while Athletico is 14th position in the league.
In other matches, National Bank of Pakistan’s Adam Hameed scored against Sui Southern Gas Corporation as Asim Faiz netted the equaliser to draw the match 1-1. Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation also ended the day with a draw against Young Blood FC.
