QUETTA:

Frontier Corps (FC) foiled a major terror bid in Quetta valley by seizing a huge cache of weapons from a car parked inside a house in Gulistan area, FC Balochistan spokesperson said on Friday.

He said that the special wing of FC, acting on a tip-off, carried out a massive search operation in Killi Huma area of Gulistan, during which security personnel seized a car loaded with arms, ammunition and explosive materials parked inside a house.

“No arrest was made during the raid as there wasn’t anyone present inside the house,” FC spokesperson said. FC called in the bomb disposal squad (BDS) to defuse and clear the explosives before starting an investigation.

“The terrorists wanted to use these explosives for subversive activity in Quetta,” spokesperson said. “However, FC’s timely action had saved the province from a terror incident.” The FC officials, however, did not disclose more details regarding the owner of the house.

Inspector General FC Balochistan Major General Mohammed Ejaz Shahid lauded the timely action taken by FC force. “The timely sharing of intelligence by secret agencies has saved Quetta from a major terror incident,” Shahid said. “FC is determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from society.”

According to the FC official, around 10 RPG-7, 27 detonators, three hand grenades, 300 boxes of explosives and two briefcase cylinders filled with explosive materials were recovered from the explosives-laden vehicle.

They did not foil anything. This was just a staged drama. To pat themselves on the back. And get in the newspapers. Nothing more. The real terrorists/extremists move about freely with the help of the police.
