Down With The Virus: Govt to hold polio immunisation drive

Over 0.75 million children will be vaccinated against the crippling disease.

PESHAWAR: The provincial government is scheduled to hold a polio immunisation drive across Peshawar district. Speaking to The Express Tribune on Friday, health department officials said the district administration has been informed about the upcoming drive where over 0.75 million children will be vaccinated against the crippling disease. According to officials, the campaign will take place in 97 union councils. A team of 4,000 personnel has been formed to vaccinate the children. “The district administration will depute police officials to provide security to polio workers,” a health department official said. The official added the one-day campaign will be followed by a three-day polio immunisation drive in 20 other districts across the province.
