The actor also said that he is in favour of Pakistani artists working in Indian films in general, but not in a film that even has anti-Pakistan themes.
"Please think like a Pakistani first and then an artist," Abbasi added.
The Pakistan Film Censor Board has banned the exhibition of 'Baby'. The team behind the film, that stars Akshay Kumar in lead role, was in a state of shock over the film’s ban in the country.

While producer Bhushan Kumar was still wondering why, actor Anupam Kher emphasised the need to move beyond borders and look at the universal problem of terrorism.
“The film is about anti-terrorism. Sometimes it is important to go beyond territories and understand who is the enemy — is it a country or a bunch of people?” Kher told IANS.

@Adnan: Piyara Afzal rocks
Way to go Piyaray Afzal.
@Kamran: Why do you make movies then, why not go to ICJ or let your PM give statement? Which case has been filed by Pakistan till now on India except for water disputes, please let everyone know. Learn to move beyond rhetoric.
@Farooq: Waar was not anti-India, it just showed the truth which was hard for you and other Indian friends to digest.
@wb:
It might be a racist comment but Pakistani actors are good looking, handsome, smart and have natural appearances. However, Indian actors just focus on body but they can not do anything with their heights.
@Pity: There are already movies on anti sikh riots called AMU.
@Pity: Have you seen internationally acclaimed, 2005 Bollywood movie "Amu" starring Konkana Sen Sharma. 1984 anti-Sikh riots provides the backdrop for the movie's narration.
Just the same way he refused to attend Imran Khan's wedding. Because he didn't like the biryani that's going to be served.
@Sneha: It's same even for sports like cricket and badminton. Contacts, money, cricketer dad can get you direct entry. While a talented general category ordinary guy has to struggle and struggle in rat race to be noticed in 1.25 billion. Sachin Tendulkar son will be given direct entry like Agarkar and many times to play even if he fails or is average. But for common man to be noticed you have to be really extraordinary and play too many national inter state Ranji matches. Even after that. It's pure luck. As most selectors are bribed. They put up their own clubs, Bribed candidate and discard any talent they find competitor to their own horse to give safe passage. It's only once you make it to indian team on tv from unfair system and become known. You are judged by your performance and fairly. Sad state of every money making industry.
Although this movie is banned in Pakistan but I think on average more Pakistani have seen it than Indians.
@Salman. You are wrong. They don't spend time auditioning,investing in unknown person- a nobody. A newcomer wont fetch you 400crore returns because he's new. No fan base. He will only earn 30crore or less. Bad investment. They want established known faces to market PR, so people come and see,fetch hundred crore. Pure business strategy. Therefore many sons and daughters of bollywood stars are hired as it creates buzz & hype. Like Saawariya Sonam & Ranbir debut - "son and daughter of Anil and Rishi Kapoor". Unknown faces would have flopped it in terms of earning. Indian soap actors you see them daily one hr since 8 9years in cliche roles from son to dad to granpa. It becomes daily Dal. You don't go waste 400rs watching same person reversed age in theatre. Not profitable. All established stars are crossing 50 it's time for gen next. Very less youth kids from bolly family that age. They are looking for known people outside industry.The zindagi channel is just introduced it will take time to become usual dal. They are Bankable till then- not a nobody. Plus economically viable as they charge you lakhs/1crore compared to indian charge 15crore or 40% profit from movie collection. I see many indian aspiring newcomers suffer in mumbai. Smart, good looking, talented from different parts of country. All they need is a start. But bollywood is not for charity. They say be a known face then come get direct entry. Their immense talent,looks, zeal, certificate from indian arts institute doesn't matter. It's brutal capitalism.
@Farooq: You self hating Pakistani
@Farooq: They have been making anti Pakistan films from decades. Hamari taraf se ek reply tou banta tha.
@wb, because it makes sense to hire cheaper crappy actors. Simple economics.
@Pity: here is a google search of "criticism of waar in indian media" https://www.google.co.in/search?q=criticism+of+waar+indian+media&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&gfe_rd=cr&ei=lRjKVLmFJaPV8ger6ICoDg
Barring one review from Hindustan times, http://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/pakistani-film-waar-shows-india-as-cause-of-nation-s-problems/article1-1136151.aspx
nobody reviewed Waar in the indian media ... even the review by HT isn't criticism, on the contrary is says that Waar is one of the better made films in Pakistan:
"Coinciding with the release of War Chhod Na Yar on the Indian side, comes a Pakistani movie called Waar which has an entirely different story-line. Opening to cinemas on Eid this week, Waar is a movie about Pakistan’s war on terrorism and how India is behind all the terrorist activities that take place in Pakistan. Relying heavily on stereotypes that exist in Pakistani media already, Waar is a story about one Major Mujhtaba, a retired army officer who had taken an early retirement from the forces due to personal reasons. This lead role is played by the country’s top actor, Shaan. A special task force of the police is trying to tackle terrorism in the tribal areas but there comes a time when they realize that Pakistan is about to be hit by a terrorist attack and none but the retired Major Ehtesham can lead such a complicated operation. The two villans in the movie that emerge are the local politicians (there are look alikes of Zardari and Nawaz Sharif) and RAW agents, who come in different shapes and sizes. The two RAW agents Ramal and Laxmi are the primary cause of most trouble in Pakistan. The movie shows them behind political murders, suicide bombings and even kidnapping. There is another RAW agent who works as a social worker by day and honey-traps willing politicians by nights.
With such a predictable story line, some observers say that Pakistani producers are using the formula of Indian films of the 80’s which rely heavily on propaganda and patriotism. The fact that the movie has funding from the Pakistan Army through its public relations arm also helps explain its plot, they add. At the same time, technically Waar is better than most Pakistani movies and is also the country’s most expensive movie made to date."
@ Wb
Because Indian film makes are bored with their own crappy Indian actors that's why they are desperate to get good new faces just like Indians now drooling over Pakistani dramas through Zindagi channel. Pakistani actors are good in acting , looks wise and certainly much more economical to afford than your million dollars crappy actors and actresses.
I fail to understand why Indian filmmakers approach crappy Pakistani actors.
We have plenty of crappy actors in India such as Aishwarya rai, her husband, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan,Shah Rukh Khan...
Too many to count.
Why not pay our own idiots, instead of borrowing idiots from Pakistan? I don't understand the logic here.
He's asking Pakistanis not to work in anti-Pakistani movies, not asking indians stop making it. So his role in Waar is justified. Stop being a nonsense critic.
Kudos for the Hamza Ali,
It is not always fame n fortune in front of any artist.
Indian Director have every right to make movies on any subject be it pro or inti Pak, so does any Pak artist to take a call from his conscious.
Simple, no love lost.
regards,
@Pity: Indians no nothing about your WAR movie..
@Realist bollywood works against anti india or anti religious movie too like haider,pk,msg etc. Its totally on individual thinking of director and censor board anyway passes it. We follow psuesdo secularism in our country anti muslim, anti Sikh anti Christian stuff like satanic verses, msg movies are banned as it hurts religious sentiments of other communities but anti hindu movies has to clear any how as it is freedom of speech. Hindus have no issues. Pk is highest gross turnover movie ever in india and history with 600crores that tells you something about them being liberal. But the right to ban or to allow should be equal to all religion. So don't think your country is being targeted when everyone is being targeted. @pity they are not here for charity or event documenting to make movies on all issues. They make movies for business and their own interests. There are already many movies on guj riots. And if you are implying we will have a problem if sikh riots movie are made, you are mistaken. Indians (sikhs hindus etc) will be very happy if all those 3/4 congress workers land in jail. Because it was mindless voilence unlike gujarat were a community started first by burning train and retaliation took place. But just talk Sikh riots and not Bhopal tradegy, a foreigner had to come and make a movie on it. It has more to do with Sonia regime past 5decades. Anti congress movies will come up now.
@Realist: Keep your Pakistani artists in Pakistan. You can be as patriotic you want to be in your own country. Ditto for your terrorists.
@Realist: That was always his personal decision - respect for his judgement. However, propaganda on either side of the border should be met with the same level of judgement.
Being patriotic is good -- we have always been -- but we must also put an end to this anti-India sentiment in the same way we expect from our Indian counterparts. Rest my case!
@Farooq: Of course. Just like it is OK for Indian actors to work in an anti Pakistani Bollywood movie.
Why cant Bollywood made films on anti-Sikh riots of 1984? Why did Indian people react negatively when Waar was released in Pakistan?
But, it's completely OK to work in an anti-India film
