Asian junior squash: Pakistan through to quarter-finals

Defending champions Pakistan stormed into the quarter-finals of the 17th Asian Junior Team Championship after winning both their matches on the tournament’s opening day in Malaysia.


Pakistan were first up against Singapore, whom they flattened 3-0.


Asim Khan won the first match, beating Chua Man Chin in straight games with scores of 11-5, 11-7 and 11-8 in 40 minutes. Ali Bokhari then came back from a game down to win 3-1 against Ben Chan with scores of 5-11, 11-9, 11-3 and 12-10. Both teams decided to play the dead-rubber third match as well despite Pakistan winning 2-0, with Tayyab Aslam coming out on top against Kah Ho 3-1.


In the other match, Pakistan won 3-0 against Korea, with none of the players dropping a single game to win comprehensively.
