KARACHI: A charity concert for the flood survivors was held at the consulate of the federal republic of Germany on Saturday. Consul General Dr Christian Brecht requested those present to donate generously for those affected in the floods.

Playing to a limited crowd (by invitation only), the event started with a solo by German pianist Andreas Kern, who played classics that kept the audience entertained for about 45 minutes. Kern’s performance was followed by renowned Pakistani guitarist Aamir Zaki who was accompanied by the four-member band, Spoonful.

The mood changed with two rock-and-roll numbers by the group, followed by an instrumental.

They then moved to Santana’s “Black Magic Woman”, keeping with the theme of music reminiscent of the 1970s.

“Jaana” — a Zaki original “ — was added to the show’s list of performances, after which Kern and Spoonful joined Zaki to play the last few numbers of the evening, which ended with music from Pink Panther.
