Minister’s statement: ‘20 mercy petitions pending’

KARACHI: Declaring Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur jails as sensitive facilities, Sindh Minister for Prisons Manzoor Wasan said on Monday that 20 mercy petitions of death row prisoners were lying with the president. “Twenty mercy petitions of prisoners from Sindh are currently with the President,” he said at a press conference at Sindh Secretariat. “On the other hand, three prisoners have so far been executed in Sindh.” Wasan said that the government and law enforcement agencies were working together to secure the prisons.
