The submarine affair

Letter November 27, 2010
I would request the people of both Pakistan and France to jointly struggle to punish the culprits.

KARACHI: With reference to your editorial of November 27 titled “The submarine affair” I would like to say that it is good that your newspaper is following the Agosta submarine deal scandal. I have been reading about this deal since the 90s and remember well that the French government first offered the three new Agosta submarine at cost of about $560 million. After some time the price escalated to $600 million and inflation was given as the main reason. Eventually, Pakistan ending up paying $950 million and this reflects the volume of corruption in the deal.

I would request the people of both Pakistan and France to jointly struggle to punish the culprits and recover the money that was paid in kickbacks.
