Deadly Cargo: Villagers foil arms smuggling bid

MULTAN: Police seized a large amount of weapons and ammunition late on Friday from a village near Sadiqabad. According to police, they received a tip-off that a weapons-laden vehicle had arrived in 136-10R village. “Nine guests arrived in Ghulam Shabbir’s house late on Friday night on two cars. They parked one of the cars at a neighbour’s house. Later, one of the villagers saw a man taking out weapons from the car. He raised alarm and the villagers apprehended the suspect, who has been identified as Yousaf, a resident of Lakki Marwat,” police said. Police said that Ghulam Shabbir and the rest of the suspects had fled. “We seized 70 handguns, seven AK-47s, 12 rifles and thousands of bullets from the car,” police said. Police later conducted a search operation in the area and arrested Ghulam Shabbir’s wife, another man Abid Khan and his wife.
