The recent rains would bring a positive impact on both major and minor crops, particularly wheat that stands over millions of hectares across the country.
“Timely rains would be able to fulfil the water requirement of all seasonal crops including wheat and pulses cultivated over a vast area,” said Commissioner Minor Crops Dr Aslam Gill.
“It will also be beneficial for all Rabi crops, particularly wheat and gram pulses, which had been cultivated over a huge area and fulfil the domestic requirement of the masses.”
He said the wheat crop in some districts of Sindh including Mirpurkhas and some areas of Tharparkar were at boosting stage and according to field reports, the harvest is likely to begin from the end of next month.
