Deadly encounter: Sixth policeman succumbs to wounds

HYDERABAD: A sixth policeman on Tuesday succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained during an encounter with alleged kidnappers on January 9. Shahzad Mari of the Mirpurkhas police died in a hospital in Karachi, where he had been referred to in a critical condition. His funeral prayers were offered at Police Ground, Mirpurkhas, on Tuesday. Two Hyderabad SHOs and three constables were killed, along with four alleged kidnappers, during the eight-hour long exchange of fire in a residential suburb.
