LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions court sought comments from SHOs of three police stations on Wednesday after hearing petitions filed by citizens seeking registration of cases against policemen for beating them.

Petitioners Muhammad Asad, Saeed and Ashraf said policemen Naveed, Shahid, Mubeen and Tariq, among other officials from the Shahdara, Nishtar and Ichhra police stations, had solicited bribes after stopping them at a picket. They said the policemen had beaten them after they had refused to fulfil their demand. They said they had gone to the police stations to file a complaint but the SHOs there had refused to entertain them. They asked the court to direct police to register the cases.
