LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Tuesday summoned the petroleum ministry joint secretary along with a report about the petrol crisis. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah heard petitions filed by Safdar Shaheen Pirzada and Gohar Nawaz Sindhu. The lawyers said the government had created an artificial shortage of petrol. They said the shortage could cause anarchy. The petitioners stated that a judicial inquiry should be ordered to fix responsibility for the petrol crisis. Justice Shah observed that the elected representatives were supposed to take up the matter in assemblies. “The court will like to know the reasons behind the petrol crisis,” he said. The judge expressed dismay when the federal government’s counsel sought more time to submit his report. The case was then adjourned till Wednesday (today).
