PESHAWAR:
Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, relatives of those killed in an anti-encroachment drive at Ghanta Ghar last week and union leaders of Insaf Traders strongly condemned the slaying of three people in Ghanta Ghar. However, relatives lauded the provincial government’s response and positive attitude towards the bereaved families. They said the authorities’ positive approach towards the victims’ families and prompt case registration against four suspects was a clear indicator that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led provincial government was committed to providing justice. The grieving relatives said some elements had been politicising the issue. They stressed nobody would be allowed to play politics over the bodies of their loved ones. “We will tell them to stop with the politics. We are satisfied now [with the government’s action],” one of the relatives said. They asked for the immediate arrest of the culprits.
