On the demand of a tribal jirga, the political administration of Mohmand Agency has announced a two-hour relaxation in the nightly curfew imposed in the agency.
The administration convened a jirga in Ghallanai to discuss the security situation on Tuesday. Tribal elders demanded the curfew, which has remained imposed for nearly two weeks, be relaxed in the interest of the public as locals have been suffering.
Political Agent (PA) Waqar Ali then announced the curfew will be in place from 7pm to 7am instead of 5pm to 7am. Ali told the jirga under the Frontier Crimes Regulations, every tribesman is responsible for maintaining peace in the respective areas and ensuring the security of government installations.
The elders assured the PA of their cooperation. The jirga also offered fateha for the victims of Army Public School on the chehlum. They pledged to never forget the incident and send their children to schools undeterred.
