ISLAMABAD: Transparency International (TI) Pakistan on Saturday challenged the contentions of the Sindh government regarding the sale of approximately 600 acres of mangrove-covered area in Karachi.
In a rejoinder submitted before the apex court in response to the Sindh government’s reply, TI Pakistan claimed that the provincial government was trying to misguide the court in an attempt to avoid the allegations.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, while rejecting Sindh government’s preliminary reply, directed the provincial government to submit para-wise comments on TI Pakistan’s application. The provincial government in its reply had rejected the allegations levelled by TI Pakistan.
On November 26, the apex court had already stopped the Sindh government from selling approximately 600 acres of mangrove-covered area located between Zulfiqar Street No1, DHA Creek Avenue and Korangi Road in Karachi.
On the other hand, TI Pakistan in its rejoinder said the Sindh government’s reply is not based on facts as everyone in the provincial government knew about this “illegal deal” of four heirs of Ibrahim — the owner of the land in question — with two individuals as well as separately with DHA. The rejoinder was submitted by Advocate Hashmat Habib on behalf of TIP’s adviser Adil Gilani.
“Credentials of the four heirs of Ibrahim are also doubtful as all the required data is missing,” stated the rejoinder.

What about the rich mangrove area around Mai Kolachi by-pass. Destroyed by landgrabbers. The then mangrove area was sanctuary for a lot of migratory birds, including pink flamingos.
Well done Transparency International Pakistan. Keep up the good work and let the Express Tribune newspaper continue presenting facts to the people. This failure known as Sindh government is doing no good at all. It makes one wonder how come they have not been unsaddled. Salams
