According to a press release issued on Saturday, The Unilever Talent Hunt (UTH) is a business competition aimed at building a stronger employer brand amongst the best universities of Pakistan, providing students the opportunity to showcase their academic and strategic acumen.
Unilever initiated UTH in 2014 to provide students with leadership opportunities on the platform of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP). USLP aimed to create awareness and give students a chance to contribute to the USLP.
This year’s competition focused on the sustainability agenda consisting of six brands, including Lifebuoy, Dove, Pureit, Walls, Blue Band and Surf Excel.
Universities from all over the country participated in the competition, from which 1,100 students from varying academic backgrounds ranging from business to fashion and engineering were selected.
Unilever initially received a total of 300 registrations (50 per brand), from which Unilever short-listed 13 teams which were mentored by Unilever over the course of four weeks. Unilever also funded the projects of those teams. Six teams comprising of most talented and deserving students were declared as finalists.
“I believe that Pakistan has some of the best talent in the world, which is reflected in the many opportunities that our local employees are offered in Unilever’s business across the world,” said Ehsan Malik, the Chairman and CEO of Unilever Pakistan Limited.
Shafaq Omar, the director of Human Resources said that UTH gives ‘future leaders’ a perfect opportunity to showcase their talents globally.
