Curbing Corruption: 3,589 complaints disposed of in 2014

The regional bureau also recovered Rs1.43 billion and arrested 70 suspects

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Karachi bureau disposed of a record 3,289 complaints last year, NAB chairperson Qamar Zaman Chaudhry was told during his annual inspection, said a press release issued on Friday. The inspection was carried out by the Chairperson’s Inspection and Monitoring Team (CIMT) from January 14 to January 16 to review and evaluate the regional bureau’s performance on the basis of a newly-devised quantified grading system. In 2014, NAB Karachi disposed of 327 complaint verifications, completed 71 of the 347 authorised inquiries and finished 33 of the 101 authorised investigations. The regional bureau also recovered Rs1.43 billion and arrested 70 suspects.
