PESHAWAR: Security forces foiled a terrorism bid on Thursday by defusing an improvised explosive device (IED) in the playground of a school in Landikotal, Khyber Agency. According to officials of the political administration, unidentified militants had planted an IED in the dressing room located in the playground of Government High School, Landikotal. The officials said a tribesman spotted a suspicious-looking canister placed in the dressing room. He immediately informed the political administration which dispatched officials of the bomb disposal squad to the site. The bomb experts cordoned off the area and defused the device which was homemade and weighed around five kilogrammes. Following this, a search operation was launched in the area around the school to look for the militants.
