PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa IGP Nasir Khan Durrani paid surprise visits to different educational institutes of Peshawar on Wednesday to review security arrangements made by schools and colleges in the aftermath of the Army Public School attack.

During his visit to Government High School for Boys No. 2 Peshawar, the provincial police chief inspected measures taken by the school’s administration to enhance safety provisions. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) and the school’s principal briefed the IGP on arrangements made in light of the security guidelines issued by the K-P police. The police chief then visited different classrooms and interacted with students and teachers.

After his visit to Government High School for Boys, Durrani visited Frontier Women College where, too, he reviewed security arrangements and interacted with staff and students.

On the occasion, the IGP praised the resilience and resolve of the students and teachers. He also briefed the students about the recently-launched SOS alert system which is being installed in all educational institutes.

Upon the request of the college’s principal to organise rescue and tactics training for students and staff, the police chief directed the CCPO to arrange training on the pattern of the erstwhile National Cadet Corps (NCC) training at Police Lines Peshawar.

The police chief also urged students and teachers to keep a close watch on their surroundings both at schools and at their homes, and to inform the police about any suspicious activity. They were asked to report any such dubious behaviour or activity to Police Control and Police Access Service.
