Contravention Of Laws: Pump owners fined over negligence

ISLAMABAD: A fine of Rs120,000 was imposed on fuel station owners for contravention of the weight and measures ordinance, inadequate security and lack of fire extinguishing equipment. According to the details, Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat) Waqas Rashid, during checking in Super Market, Jinnah Super Market and Rawal Dam, imposed fines on Kohsar Petrol Pump, Shell Petrol Pump, PSO Pump, Caltex Petrol Pump, and others on account of violation of various laws. The assistant commissioner directed the pump owners to keep their measuring instruments in accurate condition and pay daily wages to workers according to the rates fixed by the government. He also asked owners to ensure provision of professional fire-fighting equipment at their premises.
