Interfaith harmony: Body formed to review policy

A three-member committee was formed to review the draft national policy on interfaith harmony in a meeting of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) held here on Tuesday, said a press release.


The committee, comprising of members of the National Assembly Asiya Nasir, Isphanyar Bhandara and Qari Roohullah will review and present their recommendations on the policy in the next meeting of the NCM scheduled next month.


The meeting of the commission was attended by MNAs Ramesh Lal, Nasir, Bhandara, Roohullah, Bishop of Lahore Reverend Irfan Jamil, Sardar Ajeet Singh, Prof Mehardad Yousaf, representatives of ministries of interior, law and justice, CADD and the Council of Islamic Ideology.


Earlier, while chairing the meeting, religious affairs minister Muhammad Yousaf said the government had reconstituted the commission to redress grievances of the minorities and ensure their inclusion in the system.
