Corruption charges: Home dept fires 196 prison officials

The action was taken following an enquiry against over 1,000 prison officials.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) home department has terminated the services of 196 prison personnel, including 10 officers and handed down punishments to 715 others over charges of corruption.


According to a handout issued on Monday, the action was taken following an enquiry against over 1,000 prison officials. “Embezzlement of funds will not be tolerated at any cost and corrupt elements will be uprooted from every department,” the handout stated, quoting Home Secretary Syed Akhtar Ali Shah.


Ten officers, 50 head warders, 136 warders were terminated from service, while five officers, 60 head warders and 650 warders were penalised.
