Army chief meets CENTCOM commander at GHQ

Bilateral defence cooperation and overall regional security situation were discussed during the meeting

RAWALPINDI: Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Monday met  United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Lloyd J Austin at the General Headquarters.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, during the meeting, matters of mutual interest including bilateral defence cooperation and overall regional security situation with special emphasis on Afghanistan were discussed.

Commander CENTCOM lauded the sacrifices rendered by the Pakistan Army in the war against terrorism and ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, which has degraded terrorist networks.

Earlier, on arrival at GHQ, the commander paid tribute to floral wreath at Yadgare-e- Shuhada.

Last year, during his visit to the United States the army chief visited CENTCOM headquarters in Tampa, Florida.
