Later in the day, a member of Zuckerberg's Facebook team, Justin Osofsky, in a post said that Facebook had "made a mistake in taking this down".
"We apologise for this error, and hope that the author will re-post it as we are not able to restore it from our end," the post further stated.

Earlier on Sunday evening, Hamza Ali said the social media website had removed his post and warned him after deactivating his profile.

The removal of the post by Facebook was heavily censured since Zuckerberg had just a day ago declared that he would not cow down to extremists and curb speech on his site. The post by Abbasi got over 45,000 likes and some 5,000 shares.

So the "Jewish" guy whom you love to hate has acknowledged his mistake and apologized. Wonder when we see this sense of responsibility and ownership of mistakes from the Muslim world... Any violation seems to be an external plot or committed by non-Muslim...
Hamza Ali Abbasi's post should not be blocked and face book should give equal rights of speech.
Sometimes automated censors pick up key words like those used by Hamza: Hitler and the N word. Of course I could be wrong.
While I completely agree with Hamza's comment - I'm not so sure if re-posting it is the best way to reciprocate a thank-you. It really does include some words that would be hurtful to very nice people out there. Just saying.
Piyara Afzal rocks!
You have to be completely naive if you think the apology was based off on error. In-fact it was the backlash and exposing of the Hippocratic behaviors prevalent in many of those defenders of free speech. Still he is much more of a man than our politicians who would give anything to keep lying and refraining from an apology.
Thankyou facebook..! Faith restored. Freedom of speech should always be practiced within limits of mutual respect. Otherwise its just hat speech! Well said Hamza Abbasi, proud of you! Im sure you ll do Pakistan further proud by reinstating your post and accepting the apology.
Meanwhile some Pakistanis were actually saying Facebook did the right thing, I bet they are feeling really bad right now ...
@Faisal: So whats the best way to discuss and uphold "Freedom of Speech"? Ban web pages?? Way to go my friend.
hahaha now mr zuckburg sb is also sucked into this drama due to his original comment. facebook managemnt is as stupid as the users even haha
Zuckerberg apologized. YAY! ab sab fauran chhoray ho jaao..yyyyyeaahhh!
@UJ: I think ET is one of the better ones in terms of sensoring user response. In general Pakistani media is much more open than Indian or Western media. You will find equal or even more space for counter narrative to state of Pakistan's narrative. In India very difficult to see that especially when its about Pakistan. Similarly on the comments section ET is doing okay by deleting some extremely abusive comments from some Indians.
Great Going Hamza,
Deactivate Facebook from the browser of Pakistan, if they don't allow our view point to be posted there,
Sir! Mark Zukerburg "Your team always make mistakes and than they make you say that
we were mistaken
Moderation as moderating a comment itself is an expression of interest where the site (owner) decides what should be the best bite for the people as idea thus his preconceived idea!
This is so to put dissolved and liquid diet in people mouth as only bite which may halt and herald their thinking and thought thus making mechanized and galvanized ideas as the only available option of float.
In my opinion this system is to patronize their preconceived ideas in the name of policy.
The right of freedom of speech consists in speaking the Truth “(Imam Ali A.s)
Slavery is not just making slaves physically but making people obedient through modes that may effect and shutter thinking processes.
Face book is undoubtedly a platform where disagreement in concept and ideas; though are not put in moderation but puts one directly in to a penalty; thus the only penalty is to debar and debunk account bearer by blocking without understanding the meaning of Freedom and the freedom of speech .
I have been a victim of Face book policy that cost me a lot for whatever I used to write as writer on my site was out rightly deleted as lost and I could never retrieve it.
Thanks Mr. Mark Zuckerburg ; Though you and your must not have lost any thing by deleting my account for no reason but frankly I lost years of my feel and thought as words (Dr Raza)
We should respect all religions in the world.Mr Hamza Ali abbasi is a nice man we should respect and follow his conment. We should teach our children about freedom of expression.
I love the way Hamza expressed our feelings. Insult is allowed but correction is not. So weird.

Wow! We got noticed for good. Great going, Hamza Ali Abassi!
I wish ET should also apologies like this as its moderators have a very bad habit of deleting comments whatever they don't like. The ET has a very bad record in reference to freedom of expression in the comments section.
wow!
The very reason of Mr. Zuckerberg reply is.
It was Hamza Ali Abaasi, whom they think a normal Pakistani but he comes out to be a celebrity and pakistani print media pick up the news. This act of facebook was totally at 180 degrees to what Mr. Zuckerberg said a ago in support of FREEDOM OF SPEECH.Anyway a good gesature by Mr. Zuckerberg. I request him to allow everyone with equal rights allover.
