Two suspect of terrorism arrested in Jhang

JHANG: Jhang police arrested two suspected terrorists and recovered ten grenades and two pistols from their possession on Wednesday night.

Dr Rizwan, the district police officer, said that Hussain Ahmed alias Israel, 22, and Muhammad Umar, 20, confessed their link to the Sipah-eSahaba Pakistan, a banned outfit, and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan during investigations. He said that the two had received militancy training for 14 months at the Zabiullah Mujahid training camp in Miran Shah and for four months at a camp in Darogamandi Farooki markaz.

Mochiwala police have registered a case against the two under Section 3/5 (carrying explosives) and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The DPO said that the two men were riding a bike. The Mochiwala police officials at a security checkpost suspected them and followed them. On arrest, the police recovered Russian made grenades and two pistols from their possession.

The DPO further said that the grenades were likely be used up in attacking Muharram processions and Imambargahs in the district. The DPO said that Hussain was a resident of Khalilwali Basti in Shorkot and Umar of ward no3 Shorkot.

Dr Rizwan praised the Jhang police for their timely move, saying that if the two had gone unchecked they could have carried out a big attack during the month of Muharram.
