Peshawar's Army Public School to reopen on Jan 12

Over 130 children were ruthlessly killed by militants in arguably the most devastating attack in Pakistan's history

Peshawar's Army Public School, which came under attack on December 16, is set to reopen on January 12, Express News reported. 

The attack, for which the the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility, was the most devastating attack in the history of Pakistan.

Over 130 children were ruthlessly slaughtered in the attack, while the total death toll stood at 150. Several messages of condemnation and sympathy poured in from leaders of countries all over the world.

Further, people active on social media site Facebook took to changing their profile pictures to a black screen, to show solidarity with the victims.

Additionally, several candle-light vigils took place around the country, organised by civilians of the nation.

In the aftermath of the horrific incident, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted the moratorium on the ban on the death penalty in terrorism-related cases.

After the ban was lifted, at least seven people were executed.

A few weeks after that, the president signed the 21st Constitutional Amendment into law, thereby enabling the establishment of military courts.
