Targeted: Police constable shot dead

DI KHAN: Unidentified assailants gunned down a police constable in DI Khan on Thursday. According to an official of Saddar Police Station, Constable Mamoon Rashid was shot dead by two armed men on a motorcycle in Zafarabad Colony. Rashid was also riding a motorcycle when the assailants opened fired at him, the official said. The deceased was the son of Haroon Rashid, SHO of Saddar police station. The latter was recently targeted by unidentified armed men in a grenade attack in which his wife had been injured. After the incident, police personnel reached the site. However, the assailants managed to escape before the police arrived. A case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is under way.
