Snooker: Top seed Raheem reaches quarter-finals

KARACHI: Top seed Abdul Raheem moved into the quarter-finals of the Jubilee Insurance National U21 Snooker Championship after beating Gawish Khan 4-0 in their last-16 match on Thursday.

Raheem won by scores of 66-34, 69-33, 68-16(51) and 57-15 and will now face Muhammad Hassan Anwar, while another last-eight encounter will see Muhammad Adil take on Nouman Iqbal.

In the remaining two quarter-finals, Muhammad Afzal will play against Muhammad Faheem and Amir Tariq will vie with Ali Zaman Khan.

In the last-16 matches, Hassan beat Muhammad Ibrahim 4-2 with scores of 46-41, 20-53, 56-31, 41-75, 64-28 and 67-44 while Nouman won in similar fashion against Haris Tahir.

Meanwhile, Adil had to work hard to win a seven-setter against Muhammad Saqib with scores of 83-38, 52-71, 62-31, 56-39, 54-60, 54-62(54) and 75-17. And Faheem and Amir won their matches in straight frames against Junaid Ali and Muhammad Bilal respectively.
