PESHAWAR: At least four security officials were killed and two others injured in a high intensity improvised explosive device (IED) blast in lower Kurram Agency on Thursday.

The officials at Sadda, second biggest town of Kurram Agency, said the unidentified militants planted the IED on a road near Shabal village, which went off when a security vehicle passed by. The vehicle was also damaged in the explosion.

The injured were taken to Alizai Civil Hospital for immediate medical treatment, according to the officials.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far but the officials termed it an act of terrorism.

Soon after the attack, the security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation.
