This or that?: Black frocks revisited

Looks like above-the-knee noir frocks are back in vogue. Actors Rosamund Pike and Reese Witherspoon struck an elegant pose on the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala at the Convention Centre on Saturday in Palm Springs, California.

Donning frocks diversely while maintaining an epic sense of style, we couldn’t decide who did better.

Hair and make-up

With her copper hair styled back in a sleek side-parted bun, Pike did justice to the feminine and sophisticated look. Sporting a dewy up-do, the actor went for luminous make-up that accentuated her natural sheen. Rocking a fuchsia lip, the green-eyed star went for understated eyes and a creamy cherry blush that added to her luminescent glow.

Outfit

The 35-year-old Gone Girl actor donned a voluminous black silk Alexander McQueen frock. The modish outfit featured lavender-pink floral detail over a textured brocade-embossed background. Pike, who gave birth to her second child only a month ago, showcased her noteworthy pins in the satiny number.

Accessories


Leaving all her accessories at home, Pike stood tall in sky-high peep toe heels by Brian Atwood. The shoes boasted a shiny finish and a string-tie detail at the ankles. The statuesque star elevated her style quotient with a neat French manicure.

Hair and make-up

Embodying a girly and retro theme, Reese wore her shoulder-length hair down, styling it with waves. Bright pink lips, precisely-lined eyes and peachy cheeks rounded up the rest of her look. Who needs bronzer when you have such a defined face?

Outfit

The Legally Blonde star wore a lush en suite frock plucked from the Michael Kors’ pre-fall 2015 collection. She wowed in the pearl-embellished number, which featured statement oversized capped sleeves. Exuding elegance with a touch of quirk, Reese kept it classy in the well-fitted outfit.

Accessories

Strutting away in black pointy suede Christian Louboutin heels, Reese flashed her pearly whites. The 38-year-old Oscar winner polished up her smooth look with minimal accessories. A touch of bling and that killer smile were all she needed to stun bystanders.
