Faisal Mosque: Saudi Arabia provides renovation funds

Saudi Arabia has provided a $1 million grant for the maintenance and renovation of Faisal Mosque

Saudi Arabia has provided a $1 million grant for the maintenance and renovation of Faisal Mosque and allied units, said a press release issued on Saturday.


A ceremony was held at  the Faisal Mosque campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) to sign contracts to hand over the funds.

Saudi Ambassador Jassim-Al-Khalidi, Capital Development Authority (services) Director General Najeebur Rehman, Higher Education Commission Director General Owais Ahmed, former IIUI president Anwar Ahmed Siddiqui, IIUI Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai, IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh and others witnessed the ceremony

Al-Khalidi said Faisal Mosque was a symbol of strong and long-lasting brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

He said the Saudi government will continue cooperation in projects related to social welfare and development.

Yasinzai said that Faisal Mosque was a unique and exemplary gift from the Saudi Arabian Kingdom to the people of Pakistan. He said the mosque has become a symbol of Pakistan which attracts local and foreign visitors. The IIUI rector thanked King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud for releasing the grant.

Al-Draiweesh said mosques have a vital role in Islamic society, adding that ties between the two countries will further strength with the passage of time.
