LAHORE:

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khwaja Imtiaz Ahmad said on Friday that early disposal of cases was a big challenge the legal fraternity faced.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a Judicial Complex at the old sessions court.

He said civil and sessions courts, anti-terrorism courts, anti-corruption courts and banking courts were currently located at different places in the city. Efforts would be made to ensure that these were brought closer physically, he said.

This will not only benefit lawyers and litigants but also judges, he said.

Earlier, the district and sessions judge and Lahore Bar Association president Ishtiaq welcomed the chief justice.

Justice Ahmad inspected the under-construction courtrooms. He said no compromise be made on the quality of construction. He said the building would facilitate the dispensation of justice.

The courts of anti-corruption senior special judge and anti-corruption special judge were shifted to Judicial Complex on Friday. Earlier, these had been operating at Bahawalpur House, GOR-II.

The Buildings Department sub-divisional officer concerned told the chief justice that the complex would house 23 courts, a committee room and two parking floors accommodating nearly 400 vehicles at a time
