Bottled water: Ten brands found contaminated

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Council of Research in  Water Resources has said 10 bottled water brands in the country are unsafe due to chemical or microbiological contamination. In a statement, PCRWR said Dewan Water Express, Aqua National, Natur Aqua, Butt Water, Best Natural, Noble, AFRA, NASH, Aftab Qarshi and Ideal Life, were found using unsafe water. Of the ten, four have high level of arsenic, two were found to have microbiological contaminations while the remaining were found unsafe due to presence of high levels of sodium, potassium and total dissolved solids. The quality control authorities have been asked to take legal action against companies supplying contaminated bottled water, said the press release.
