"The key is for all institutions to join hands for an effective and a prompt implementation of a comprehensive National Action Plan without losing any further time," he emphasised at the meeting which is under way at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The army chief also reviewed the work done by all those concerned for the execution of their respective assigned tasks listed in the National Action Plan, and directed them to follow strict time lines.
The forum reviewed the overall internal and external security situation in the country, with particular focus on the ongoing operations. A recent upsurge in Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) across the country was also reviewed, and its effects were appreciated.
A wider political consensus achieved against terrorism is not lost to smaller issues, the participants hoped.
On December 19, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had visited the headquarters in Rawalpindi to meet with Raheel Sharif and was accompanied by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Khan.
During his visit, the premier was briefed about the security situation in the country and what plans were being implemented to bring the situation under control.
The civil and military leaders have met several times to chalk out security plans in the wake of December 16 attack on a Peshawar school in which Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) gunmen killed 150 people.

@Rex Minor: how do you know the military's bombing of terrorists was indiscriminate? Were you there? Or are you intentionally using misleading comments to justify your point? The military evacuated civilians before th operation started. Those left must be the terrorists. Why would innocent civilians stay behind when they knew the operation was coming? Your comments are off base as usual.
@vaqar: You are a person with spirits but ignore that on it is on General Raheels watch, that while his bods were bombing indiscriminately the tribal region, causing deaths, destruction and displacements of civilian population, they failed to provide security for their own garrison institutions. He should have the moral courage to accept resonsibility for the fiasco!!!
Rex Minor.
"Nation wants political, military leadership to take bold decisions against terrorists: COAS " Who is Pakistan's national spokesman? Since both the Army and the PM is on the same page, why is the PM not the person to be the main national spokesman? A soft coup can be seen in evidence.
@Ashraf: True. But so do most bureaucrats' and politicians' children. Not only that they have huge businesses abroad from Lahore to London (via Dubai).
Pakistani's will welcome Martial Law to fight the TTP terrorists. Liberals and media work on $$$ and are more interested in paralyzing Pakistan.
@Ashraf:
and How many such 'children',brothers and sisters have became PM/Minister ? or even top general ?
@Ashraf: Better than goofing around that most politicos and their spoiled brats do at the cost of our resources, I would think.
The only reason there is still talk about defeating terrorism is because of Army Chief. Otherwise these political goons must be weaseling their way out by now. The only leader here is General Sharif.
People have short memories. General yahya khan was promising victory to the nation the day of surrender in Bangladesh. General zia assured us he had no political ambitions and promised that elections will be held in 90 days. There are numerous other examples of half truths and lies by the generals. We will judge this one by his actions over the next 6 to 12 months.
nation want bold step but not eager letting the sympathies with terrorists, sectarian basis be off
Now it seems quite likely that even if a decision is reached.......it's implementation will be in doubt.
You won many heart sir
Headline code for....nation wants government to do whatever Army wants.
Pakistan has only ONE Problem - GOVERNANCE FAILURE
Personally I have little hope and faith in this civilian leadership. They are only 'shopkeepers'.
Politicians will keep beating around the bush it's time for government to take a decision on its own.
I have confidence that the COAS is proceeding in the right direction to overcome terrorism in Pakistan...clearly what has been done in the past is not working...a new approach is needed and it sounds like the leadership is in agreement on this...I am sure there will be pushback from the terrorist supporters but they must be stopped and the people deserve peace not useless religion based war against the elected government...
If these commanders not prevailing upon govt to de-politicize civil police completely, holding of local body's on non party bases and not imposing proper one year emergency for strict checking on airports of all types(hunter's including), seaports/sea line and and on 100% boarders then commanders are "half serious".Nothing succeed without affectively guarding entry points.
Ashraf
What an idiotic comment! Just trying to spread negativity.
Pakarmy with the support of patriotic citizens of Pakistan shall succeed and the extremist TTP and their apologist shall bite the dust.
All enemies of Pakistan, game over for you.
Most of the Jernails' children study abroad.
