A district and sessions court on Tuesday remanded the director of a money exchange company, Javed Khanani, and an employee, Muhammad Taufiq, for their alleged involvement in the money laundering of millions of rupees.
The judicial magistrate of East Zone, Amir Latif, sent the two suspects to police custody on physical remand till January 2. They were held by the Federal Investigation Agency on Monday after some suspicious transactions worth Rs140 million. The investigation officer, Rana Sanaullah, told the court that Khanani sent money abroad through illicit means using his employee, Taufiq’s account. During the investigation, some other accounts had also surfaced through which amounts close to Rs1billion were sent to foreign countries.
