Policemen of Balochistan are paid the lowest salaries from among the provinces and this has hamstrung the force fighting the menace of terrorism for the last couple of years, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Abdul Razaq Cheema said on Tuesday.
“The demand of police jawans for a sizeable increase in the salaries is justified and needs the attention of those at the helm of affairs in provincial level,” he said.
K-P and Punjab provinces, acknowledging the sacrifices of the police force, have increased the salaries of police in the recent past.
The Sindh province has also ordered a rise of salaries from Rs7,000 to Rs10,000 of the personnel of law enforcement agencies recently, he added. “Balochistan which has lost hundreds of policemen including over 20 high ranking officials of the force in the fight against the terrorism failed to bring the salaries of the force at a par with their counterparts in other provinces, the CCPO lamented.
