APP December 30, 2014

ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has directed the contractors of metro bus project to pace up the work and increase the labour force during day, as contractors stop work at night due to fog and cold. Rawalpindi Commissioner and project director Zahid Saeed on Tuesday visited the construction sites where he was informed that labourers would not be able to work at night and early morning due to thick fog. The commissioner inspected Package-I (Faizabad to 9th Avenue) in Islamabad and Package-II (Peshawar Mor) and asked the contractors to complete work as early as possible. He said the corridor for metro bus from Faizabad to Peshawar Mor was almost complete. He said the weather would improve in a few days and the work would be accelerated. Site Engineer Muhammad Atif Javed said that the project was likely to miss the deadline of January 30. He said the bus service would be operational by mid February or early March 2015.
